CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Kleberg County Sheriff's Office is redoubling their efforts to keep crime out of the area after discovering stash of guns and drugs in Kingsville.
3NEWS spoke with Kleberg County Sheriff Richard Kirkpatrick, who said cocaine, marijuana and three firearms were among the items found found in a home near an elementary school on Lott Avenue.
His main concern was how close it was to where children go to school and attend after school activities.
"When it is close proximity to the school, I think people then - there's an eyebrow raised, people look at that and say, "We don't want our children exposed to that type of environment," absolutely," said Kirkpatrick.
The sheriff also told 3NEWS that there were a total of seven children known to reside in the home where the weapons and drugs were found.
A man was arrested and now faces several charges that include the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance along with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of marijuana.
