CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — There's $46 million worth of renovations and new construction ramping up at the Corpus Christi Marina.
A new marina office rendering shows a sleek two-story structure which will be built on the Coopers Alley L-Head right across the way from the Yacht Club.
”That will allow us better space to run the marina out of as well as give the facility back to the boaters,” Marina manager Jonathan Atwood said
Currently, the office is taking up space at the boater facility on the Lawrence Street t-head. The same t-head where utility work is about to begin as part of the marina's $46 million makeover.
The contractor is currently staging equipment and getting all of the equipment on site getting ready to work on the utilities that will be Shoreside utilities,” Atwood said.
The Coopers Alley L-Head is also going to see a lot of improvements including a new boater facility. The city has also released a rendering of what it should look like. Also, new docks at the L-Head are set to arrive any day from Florida.
”The docks are currently being built in Florida and you’ll soon see the concrete docks shipped into the area and we will be able to pick those up and place them in the water.” Atwood said.
Along the Peoples Street t-head is where the wooden boardwalk will be ripped out and replaced by concrete. The wooden boardwalk has been in place since 1994 and 25 years was it's life expectancy. The new concrete boardwalk is supposed to have a 50-year lifespan.
