Kids learn importance of conserving water with CCW

CCW COO Drew Molly said as our lake levels continue to drop, children need to understand how important it is to be responsible with the resource.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi Water is reaching a new generation by making sure students in area schools understand the importance of water conservation

"You need to save water because there's not that much water," second grader Allison Schumacher told 3NEWS. She was one of the students who got a visit from Corpus Christi Water at her school.

CCW Chief Operating Officer Drew Molly said educating children can help mold the future.

"There good to remind there parents, once you teach them, those are skills that they never loose," he said.

Molly said that as our lake levels continue to paint a concerning picture, children need to understand how important it is to be responsible with our resources.

"We have never been this low at the Choke Canyon Reservoir," he said. "So that reservoir is right at about 20-percent full. So, you could say it's 80-percent empty."

Molly said training up the new generation is so important, so that they can eventually carry the torch for themselves.

"That next generation of kids that we're talking to in schools can help us utilize that resource conscientiously and wisely, respectfully, we can do that," he said.
