CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Day of Giving fundraiser is November 12, 2024 and we're counting down the weeks by meeting some of the participating nonprofits!
This week's Day of Giving spotlight featured the Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities.
They not only provide psychiatric resources to those in need but also help them live independently.
And underway, plans to serve low-level, non-violent offenders with mental illness.
"One of our biggest projects we have going on right now, which has been a big focus of the county and the city is helping those who are justice-involved who are also diagnosed with some kind of mental illness. So, we have a 32-bed diversion center coming on board, which is a big undertaking, and one of the biggest centers that we're going to be creating in the state of Texas," said Mental Health Director of NC-MHID Andrea Kovarik.
