Body found on Agnes Street identified

The victim was identified as 33-year-old William Dee Hatley according to Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Nueces County Medical Examiners identified the victim whose body was found on Agnes Street Monday as 33-year-old William Dee Hatley.

Corpus Christi police officers first discovered Hatley's body after a motorist in the area made the call at about 8:17 a.m. Monday morning, saying they observed that the man did not appear to be moving.

Police were not specific about what kind of injuries the victim sustained, but said he was found with apparent trauma to the body, lying on the ground near a building away from the roadway.

CCPD arrested 46-year-old Ruben Martinez as the man they say is responsible for the murder.

Investigators said they were able to locate surveillance video and positively identify the individuals involved in the crime.

They obtained a murder warrant in connection with the death and Martinez was located by the CCPD Gang Unit. They were actively patrolling and searching the area of Nueces Bay Boulevard and Antelope Street.

He was transported to the Police Department main station for interviewing before being transported to the City Detention Center where he was booked and charged with murder.

Police said they will continue investigating the deadly incident.
