Power restored to downtown Corpus Christi after brief equipment failure

About 500 customers were in the dark before service was restored at 6:30 a.m.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — More than 480 customers were without power in Corpus Christi's downtown area early Thursday morning. 

The outage came as a result of equipment failure, according to Omar Lopez with AEP. 

Service was expected to be restored by 10 a.m., but was fixed by 6:30 a.m.
