CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It's a career most of us know from television shows.
But today, the Department of Public Safety pulled back the curtain and shared what a day in the life of a forensic scientist looks like with the public.
In honor of National Forensic Science Week, the DPS Corpus Christi Crime Lab played host to students and inquiring minds of all ages.
They showed off their facilities, answered questions and shared schooling recommendations. They even separated the fiction we see on crime shows from the facts of the job they do every day.
"Every day's different. I'm also being able to help the community," said forensic scientist Madalyn Beach with the DPS Corpus Christi Crime Lab. "I like the idea of using science to help law enforcement and I don't know, I just love my job!"
