Fatal Airline shooting leaves man dead, another in custody after fight breaks out Friday

Officers were told that a man had been shot in the chest near the back of a local business around 11:30 p.m. Friday. The suspect fled but was later arrested.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — CCPD is investigating a fatal shooting off of Airline that left one 34-year-old man dead.

Police were called to a shooting at about 11:30 p.m. Friday night to the 2000 block of Airline Road. Officers were told there was a man in the back of a local business that had been shot.

Police located the man with a gunshot wound to the chest. EMS transported the victim to a hospital with life threatening injuries.

Police said the suspect, 45-year-old Troy Virginio, fled the scene but was eventually stopped and detained without further incident.

The man he shot died in the hospital.

The investigation reportedly revealed that those involved knew each other and got into an argument Friday night. One man began to strike the other when a firearm was pulled out and ejected.

Virginio was arrested for Murder and Evading arrest with a vehicle.
