CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Law enforcement, elected leaders and members of the community gathered at the Seaside Funeral Home to pay their respects to Kingsville Border Patrol Agent Brandon Brown who was laid to rest Thursday afternoon.
The 46-year-old was killed in a wrong-way crash on FM-70, near Chapman ranch road on Sept. 16.
Sgt. Rob Mallory told 3NEWS that authorities are still investigating the incident at this time, but the other driver was released from the hospital with minor injuries following the accident.
Community members have rallied around Brown's family, as the Kingsville officer leaves behind a wife, four children and many other friends and family members.
A GoFundMe page was created to help cover financial costs in the wake of his absence. Within one day, it surpassed the original goal of $40,000. Organizers then moved the goal to $60,000. That goal has since been surpassed, and donations continue to make their way to the grieving family.
An obituary from the Seaside Funeral Home states that Brown was a caring a giving husband, father and provider who earned his degree in Criminal Justice and Spanish while playing as a defensive linebacker for Washington State University.
He then joined the Peace Corps after college.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to help the family through this time: https://gofund.me/4dc11eba
