Gulf Coast Growth Ventures hosts Girls Summer Leadership Camp for high school students

The students heard from women in a variety of industry leadership positions to learn about different career paths available to them.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Before the school year begins, area high school students had the chance to participate in Gulf Coast Growth Ventures 2024 Girls Summer Leadership Camp.

All area high school girls were invited for a free week of hands-on learning and exposure to different skilled trades and careers in STEM!

The future trailblazers also heard from women in a variety of industry leadership positions to learn about different career paths that are available to them after graduation.

It's something campers like Aryn Vanecek and Elizabeth Leal say got them excited for their future.

"This really opens up so many opportunities," Vanecek said. "It's not just welding, you're learning about cranes and other engineering ideas."

"For other girls who have not really thought about engineering, I definitely say go give it a shot because it's actually a lot of fun," Leal said.

The last day of camp session five ends Friday at the Craft Training Center of the Coastal Bend.
