CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Goodwill is inviting middle and high school-aged students in the Coastal Bend to learn what it means to be a Goodwill Mission Multiplier.
Amanda Garcia, Vice President of Development, joined us on Direction to Success to say she believes the program is all about reaching out to a younger generation.
“We all grew up understanding Goodwill as a retail store, right? Where we can find the best thrifting.” Garcia said.
But she says that what many people don’t understand is that their donations, actually go toward helping those who face obstacles when it comes to securing a job.
“The money that we generate from the sales of our donations actually goes to job training, skills training [and] job placement to those in our community who have a barrier to employment.”
The Goodwill Mission Multiplier program connects with students from area high schools in need of volunteer and service hours. Through it, young people are able to collect donations that go toward creating jobs.
