CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Those who are traveling to the Uptown area of Corpus Christi will have a new way to get there, thanks to the ongoing work on the new Harbor Bridge.
Over the weekend, TxDOT opened a new ramp just past the old Comanche Street exit, which has now been closed permanently. The new exit ramp will allow drivers to quickly access both Staples and Leopard streets.
Flatiron Dragados spokesperson Lynn Allison told 3NEWS that it is all part of a bigger project that will be open to commuters this fall.
“The second phase of that this fall will connect the Crosstown Expressway frontage road from Agnes/Laredo to Comanche Street as part of the final configuration,” Allison said.
Throughout September, drivers can also expect to see surface milling and paving along I-37 frontage roads near the new bridge.
Meanwhile, work on the cable-stayed bridge continues, where a back span pier cap weighing over 240 tons was recently lifted into place. Additional lifts are planned for the weeks ahead.
