CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 31-year-old man from Houston was killed in a crash involving eight vehicles just north of Refugio around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to DPS officials.
Officials say an 18-wheeler was stopped on US 77 in the inside southbound lane after a major crash with another 18-wheeler, and six other vehicles.
According to DPS officials, the 31-year-old, Michael Ngo, was driving a 2018 Nissan box truck and failed to control its speed, hitting the 18-wheeler from behind.
Ngo was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by DPS Troopers from the Refugio County Highway Patrol Office.
