CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Things were heating up at the Island University, specifically in the dining hall kitchens, as students fought for the title of 'Top Chef' in a live cooking showdown Thursday.
The only thing hotter than the food was the rivalry between the blue team and the green team as they went head to head in the Islander Top Chef competition.
The blue team entered the arena as returning champions looking to defend their title, as well as the bragging rights they've held onto all year long.
But the underdog green team was looking for revenge. They saw the culinary face-off as their chance to take the blue team down for good.
President and CEO of the University, Dr. Kelly Miller, said it was a fierce competition that no one wanted to lose.
"I have been offered bribes, I'm not gonna lie, from both teams so it's kind of fair," Dr. Miller. "It's something that creates a really wonderful, healthy competition on campus, our students really enjoy getting to watch it, and it's a chance for them to really think about cooking."
Ultimately, it came down to a nail-biter of a finale with just one point separating the winners from the losers.
The blue team sent the green team packing, with a final score of 75 to 74, defending their title for another year!
