CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — On Monday, students in the Montessori Spanish immersion class at Incarnate Word Academy celebrated Dieciséis de Septiembre with a special performance showcasing Hispanic culture.
Even IWA's AP Spanish high school students came out to help teach the kids about embracing the culture.
3NEWS spoke with one parent, Carolina Nisimbalt who also happened to help organize today's event, on how important and fun it is for the students to learn about their heritage.
"To be able to celebrate your culture, it's absolutely beautiful, enriched with just so much culture," she said "That's something that we can do because we have a full Spanish immersion program where our kids are spoken to in Spanish. So it's just such an amazing opportunity to be able to provide to our children that opportunity."
