CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Kicks for Class program hosted their annual shopping event at Academy Sports and Outdoors Friday.
This event has been around for 3 years. It allows volunteers within our community to partner up with a middle school student athlete to help provide them with any gear they may need to succeed in their sports journey.
The first Kicks for Class helped about 30 kids, but this year they assisted over 450 students.
"So thankful for the community and everyone who has come out. A lot of the local business leaders have accepted the challenge to step up and put their business success back into the community," said owner and CEO of Heil Law Firm Robert Heil. "And it's going to directly benefit the kids that are here today and we are so thankful that the community stepped up and showed out so we can help our kids in middle school."
Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin and Corpus Christi boxing native Julian Delgado have both supported the organization as a way of helping students have more active participation within school.
