Judge grants more time in Persimmon Street murder case to obtain new evidence

In January, Salomon's attorney said new evidence came to light through a video that was taken the night the shooting took place.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Murder suspect accused in 2023 death of Alexis Gonzales, Jacob Salomon, was in the 148th District Court before Judge David Klein on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old was shot and killed just before midnight in February 2023 on Persimmon Street.

During Wednesday's hearing, the District Attorney's Office requested more time as they obtain new evidence in the case. Judge Klein granted another 30 days until the next hearing.

In January, Salomon's attorney said new evidence came to light through a video that was taken the night the shooting took place.

Gonzales' mother, Selina Pena, said they cannot speed the process up, but they are still seeking justice.

"Everyday we wake up to basically feeling the same way," Pena said. "I really haven't adjusted to anything. Her being gone, it just seems like it was yesterday that everything happened so, my family [they're] the same way. It's just you know we don't have any way to adjust to it and I don't know if we'll be able to."
