CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Commissioners expect an update soon on the progress of the engineering work for the new Bob Hall Pier.
The pier was rendered inoperable over three years ago and later demolished. The updated design plan is expected to be 95 percent complete, and the new engineering firm plans to present the designs to the court next month.
Before that occurs, the county park board will conduct a workshop on the design and its final cost. Nueces County Pct. 4 Commissioner Brent Chesney said he's committed to eventually having a restaurant as part of the pier..
"I continue to support it I will continue to work hard to find a way to do it. I don't believe the issue is dead in any way, shape or form," he said.
Commissioners voted to construct a section of the pier that would permit the addition of a restaurant in the future.
