Robstown man arrested, faces murder charges in fatal stabbing

Robstown Police Chief Rex Ramon said Cruz Favela killed 41-year-old Benjamin Gonzalez.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 39-year-old man is now in the Nueces County Jail facing murder charges in the death of another man.

Robstown Police Chief Rex Ramon said Cruz Favela killed 41-year-old Benjamin Gonzalez.

Ramon said that Favela arrived at his ex-girlfriend's home at 10:30 p.m. on Sunday located at the 1100 block of Kansas Street and proceeded to stab Gonzalez.

According to Ramon, the two men were arguing over a girlfriend, and that's when the situation turned deadly.

"This gentleman Gonzalez was at a residence at 1101 Kansas and a male subject by the name of Cruz Favela arrived at the house and a argument ensued and turned into a fight and Favela stabbed Gonzalez several times and then left the area," he said.

Favela was swiftly located at his parents' residence on the nearby Ruben Chavez street and apprehended for the stabbing. The charge was later escalated to murder on Monday morning following Gonzalez's death from the inflicted injuries.
