Happy 'HOLLY-DAYS' to you! South Texas Botanical Gardens winter festivities begin Friday

The garden's hours will be extended till 7:30p.m. every Friday and Saturday until Christmas.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The South Texas Botanical Gardens is kicking off the holiday season with their HOLLY-DAYS at the Gardens winter event starting Friday.

The event will bring holiday cheer with lights, trees, Santa and more every Friday and Saturday until Christmas!

A staple in their celebration last year, the 18-foot "Eco Christmas Tree" made by local artist Shelia Rogers with plastic bottles collected by the community will return with four new smaller versions called the "Emerald Forest".

Activities are covered through the purchase of a general admission pass.

Executive Director Dr. Michael Womack joined us live on First Edition and shared about the recycling initiative they will offer this weekend at the festive event.

"This weekend on Friday and Saturday, if you bring a water bottle or single use plastic bags to the botanical gardens, we will recycle it for you," said Womack. "This is all for a partnership that we have with H-E-B trying to encourage people to do more recycling."
