Spring Breakers flock to Art Museum of South Texas

As museum officials told 3NEWS, despite the weather, the view is always great at the Art Museum of South Texas!

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Spring Break is in high gear and one place that's seen a huge boost from those crowds is the Art Museum of South Texas

The museum has seen visitors from all over the state, and across the United States and even from as far as Germany!

A main attraction at the museum this week has been the newly opened Elizabeth's. The Mediterranean-inspired café has some of the best views in Corpus Christi.

Today was also the museum's last day of Spring Break Camp, which afforded the kids attending the chance to explore the museum and to take in all the art on display.

The final programmed offered this week by the museum is the Young Artist Workshop which will be held on Saturday.

Marketing Coordinator Alexis DeLeon told 3NEWS the Art Museum of South Texas offers a unique experience for local and travelling spring breakers to escape the norm.

"A lot of people think Corpus Christi is all about the beaches,” DeLeon said. “But sometimes the visibility gets a little cloudy on Spring Break, as you know, and the views are always good at the Art Museum."

DeLeon asks anyone who's ever been curious about the art museum to just come and check it out.

The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
