CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — STAAR testing has been pushed back for fifth grade students at Tuloso-Midway's Intermediate campus Monday after internet and phone service was disrupted last week.
The district posted a notice to social media over the weekend saying a fiber line cut in the area near Leopard and Rand Morgan Friday resulted in outages at the Tuloso-Midway Academic & Career Center, the Intermediate school and the Maintenance and Transportation departments.
A Facebook post addressed to parents and students said that the incident was beyond the district's control, and let the community know the city of Corpus Christi had been contacted to resolve it as quickly as possible, with crews expected to work on the line first thing Monday morning.
By Monday afternoon, it was announced that the fifth grade Science STAAR test had been moved to Thursday, Apr. 18.
The district apologized for the delays caused by the outages in the statement, saying the following:
"We understand the inconvenience this may cause and assure you that our team is actively working with the city to restore services promptly. While we cannot provide an exact timeframe for restoration at this moment, we will keep you updated on the progress."
