Taft ISD staff learn live-saving skill before school year starts

CPR training is important for educators to learn in case of an emergency in the classroom.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Taft ISD staff learned how to save lives with hands-on CPR training from American Heart Association thanks to a sponsorship from Superior Health Plan.

CPR training is important for educators to learn in case of an emergency in the classroom. Districts like Taft depend on having teachers and staff who know how to perform the life-saving skill while they wait for first responders to arrive.

The American Heart Association also provided 19 anytime kits for teachers to help train students on hands-on CPR as well.

"This CPR kit has an Anne so it blows up, it also has a plate in the doll, so when anyone is practicing hands-only CPR it will click, when they are doing it correctly," Youth Market Development Director Sonia Marines said.
