Taft water boil rescinded Thursday

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has given city officials the all-clear.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — UPDATE (10:37 a.m.): The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality allowed city officials to lift the water boil notice.

(10:01 a.m.): City of Taft officials said water sample results and more information will be available on Thursday after 10 a.m.

The City of Taft has issued a water boil notice due to a main break on Highway 181 and San Patricio Avenue.

All customers are advised to boil their water for at least two minutes before consumption and use (such as washing your hands and face, brushing your teeth and drinking) to kill any bacteria.

Individuals with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk to exposure to harmful bacteria.

Residents can also use bottled water instead of boiling tap water for use.

Taft city officials will announce when the boil notice is lifted.
