CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi kicked off the school week with an event commemorating the start Hispanic Heritage Month on campus.
The Island University celebrated in style with their student Mariachi group, Mariachi de la Isla, front and center to perform for all in attendance.
The event not only pleasing to the ear, but to the eye as well, as colorful displays of culture could be seen all throughout the University Center.
3NEWS spoke with a student who was thrilled to share her culture and history with her fellow Islanders.
"I'm just so excited for people to learn and take a little part of what I grew up as, and grew up with, and hopefully find something new that they like," Abigail Martinez said.
We'll be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month here at 3NEWS all month long with a look at impacts made each day by, and for, our Hispanic community.
Be sure to keep an eye out for those stories and more.
