CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Students at the Island University kicked off International Education Week on Monday.
Throughout the week campus officials and resources will sharing their experiences and knowledge about study abroad opportunities with those who may be interested.
3NEWS spoke with one student, Ashlyn Holmes, who just recently took advantage of a study abroad program in Australia!
"I was able to go and explore the Great Barrier Reef," she said. "I went snorkeling for the first time. I jumped out of a plane for the first time. I made a whole bunch of new friends and I actually met a lot of Australians like the locals and stuff. And so I was able to be embraced into their culture and everything how they live their life compared to here."
Holmes shared some advice for students who may be thinking about learning in a different country, saying that while it's a great experience to be able to find yourself, it is important to have good time management skills.
