CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coastal Bend Community, especially those who attend Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, honored the life and memory of former student Caleb Harris on Tuesday -- his birthday.
Harris went missing from his off-campus apartment on March 4. His remains were found at a wastewater station near Ennis Joslin Road more than four months later.
Stationary materials were set up for those wanting to leave messages for the Harris family.
Therapy dogs and counselors also were in attendance to help talk with anyone still processing the Harris’ disappearance and death.
The university president, students and staff tell 3NEWS there are still events on the horizon that will honor the former student.
"There is a separate ceremony for all of our Islanders who pass away, so it's nice to know that he'll be remembered once again,” said student activities representative Matthew Sanchez. “That one will invite family, friends, of all students. It's just nice to have something on campus for everyone to grieve together."
Counseling and mental-health resources remain available on campus for anyone who needs them, Sanchez said.
