CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Hundreds of cars were lined up early this morning for the 81st Annual Joe Salem Thanksgiving Dinner. Volunteers handed out a turkey plate to each attendee. Several people who look forward to this event every year and some even waking up as early as 7 a.m. to make sure they receive a turkey plate. One attendee told us the meal means more to her than the past ones.
"I think it's very good, especially when you have something happen that you don't expect to happen. It's a big help,” said Sandra Boyd.
Sandra Boyd says this meal is a reminder of how the community comes together for the good and bad times. For her, as she rebuilds her life little by little---she's thankful to people who are willing to help others in need especially during the holidays.
