CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Students at Travis Elementary got a special visit this morning from the U.S. Coast Guard and their MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter.
They also got to see some well-equipped boats!
The kids took a look inside the helicopter as they learned all about what each of the controls are used for.
3NEWS spoke with one of the lieutenants today, who said each student was full of questions.
Some even had the chance to pretend they were an aviator!
"[We] show them our search and rescue equipment as well as talk a little bit about teamwork and how we're supposed to work as a team and we have to work as a team in order to do our search and rescue cases," said Lt. Ian Hopper.
The principal at Travis Elementary said it's a great opportunity for students to learn what careers are out there and to get a feel for a career they might want to pursue.
One of those students might just be a future member of the U.S. Coast Guard!
