CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The two men killed and one man injured in a crash Wednesday night between Calallen and Orange Grove have been identified.
Crane truck driver Michael Perez, 48, was killed when Texas Highway Patrol investigators said a 2019 Ford Expedition did not stop at a stop sign at around 10:57 p.m. Wednesday as it approached the intersection of FM 624 from FM 70.
Ty Pressley, the 19-year-old passenger in the Expedition, also was killed.
Quinton Pressley, the 18-year-old driving the Expedition, survived the accident and was in critical condition Thursday. No update on his condition was made available Friday.
The front passenger side of the Expedition hit the driver's side of the crane truck, said Texas Highway Patrol Sgt. Harold "Rob" Mallory. The SUV then stopped at the northeast side of the intersection and was engulfed in flames.
Ty Pressley, who was from Sandia, died at the scene after being trapped in the SUV. Odem resident Quinton Pressley was taken to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Perez died of his injuries at the hospital.
