CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — An elderly woman was scammed out of her money early last week.
The Corpus Christi Police Department is asking the public for help identifying two men who they said coerced a local woman into giving them her money on Nov. 14 and 15.
The woman initially was contacted by phone and told there was trouble with one of her online accounts.
Police said she was told she accidentally was credited a large amount of money that needed to be repaid immediately, in cash and in person.
The woman then withdrew several thousand dollars from her bank and met one of the men at a local grocery store parking lot. He then contacted the victim and was given the money.
Police said both suspects appear to be Indian or Middle Eastern men. The first suspect is described as appearing to be between 40- 50 years old, about 5-8 and around 180 lbs.
He has short dark hair, glasses and is clean shaven.
The second suspect, who police said acted as a lookout, appeared to be around 60 years of age, 6-feet tall, and about 220 lbs.
He has glasses, salt-and-pepper hair that partially is balding, and a white and gray beard.
The two men were seen driving a newer model Chevrolet Suburban.
