CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A number of new safety enhancements are in place or coming soon to Ricardo as part of the project to upgrade US 77 to Interstate 69 standards, according to TxDOT officials.
The speed limit from FM 772 to Kingsville city limits has been set to 45 mph with 35 mph school zone reduced speed during designated times for Ricardo ISD. Message boards and radar trailers have been moved and adjusted to reflect the 45 mph speed limit throughout the project.
A low-profile traffic control barrier has replaced the existing barrier to improve lines of sight for motorists.
New lighting has been added at the intersection of FM1118 and US 77. A left-turn lane will also be added at the intersection to westbound Wagner Road.
In-lane rumble strips have been installed at cross streets before US 77 intersections at streets where the crossovers remain in place.
Still in the process of being added are school zone signs to increase the school zone section and stop signs with LED lights on cross streets where crossovers with US 77 remain in place.
