CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Veterans Memorial High School is honoring their tenth year in the community by honorarily renaming of the street the school is located on to "Veterans Memorial Parkway."
The school is located on Cimarron Boulevard, near Lipes Boulevard.
The honorary name change has been in the works since the summer when students with Veterans Memorial Student Council approached City leaders for help.
3NEWS spoke up with senior Temoc Zamora who explained that the idea came to the students as a way to instill school pride.
"So every other high school in the Corpus Christi area has a street name that reflects their school," he said "And I felt that obviously Veterans Memorial didn't have one because we are so young, I felt that it was time that we should get one especially being the tenth year that we're open."
