CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A cement-truck driver was taken to a local hospital after the weight of his vehicle collapsed a sinkhole on Steel Street, between McCampbell Road and McBride Lane, Corpus Christi Police Department officers said Friday.
City of Corpus Christi crews are currently investigating the cause of the sinkhole.
Crews also could be seen helping to dig the truck out.
Crews said they were notified about the incident, which happened in the neighborhood between North Padre Island Drive and Navigation on Corpus Christi's West Side, at about 11 a.m.
The truck turned over onto the passenger side, said CCPD Lt. Gabe Garcia, so the driver was able to climb out of his vehicle with what he said were non-life-threatening injuries.
CCPD said gas and water officials said other areas are expected to be affected.
