CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The folks from the Dr Pepper Museum in Waco drove all the way down to Corpus Christi to deliver a year’s supply of the famous Texas soda to one lucky winner on the city’s southside.
Autumn Outlaw is the Director of Development for the museum, and said each year they do these giveaways. A few weeks ago Pilar Torres was the name selected from 27,000 people who entered the contest for a free year's supply of Dr Pepper.
Finally, the group made its way to her door with the first of many 12 packs.
Autumn knocked on the door and Pilar answered with a big smile on her face.
Quickly the Dr Pepper was unloaded and brought into Pilar’s family home.
Photos were taken and Pilar was so excited she could barely talk.
"A couple of weeks waiting for the delivery and yes it’s finally here and I am very, very excited," she said.
Pilar’s husband, Dr. Daniel Torres, is a local orthodontist!
3NEWS asked for his professional advice on how to keep your teeth cavity-free after drinking all these sodas.
"Drinking the sugary drinks, if you follow with a good rinse or brush your teeth it will diminish the decay potential but we will stick with the diet and the zero [sugar]," he said.
Pilar and her family of four believe they will probably finish this year's supply in about a month because they plan on sharing their good fortune with friends.
