Big races included Corpus Christi mayor, Texas House District 34 and the Nueces County District Attorney's race. 3NEWS had reporters there with live interviews.

11 p.m.: Mayor Paulette Guajardo and Michael Hunter are headed to a runoff after neither candidate managed to get more than 50 percent of the vote. 

10:47 p.m.: Corpus Christi City Council has three new at-large members after voters picked former councilmembers Carolyn Vaughn and Mark Scott and current Dist. 3 councilman Roland Barrera. 

Nueces County DA Jimmy Granberry also easily fended off Terry Shamsie to keep his seat. 

Republican Denise Villalobos defeated Solomon Ortiz Jr. to flip Texas State Dist. 34 Rep. Abel Herrero's seat. 

10:15 p.m.: Michael Cloud defeats Tanya Lloyd to win re-election as the US Congressman for the 27th District.

10 p.m.: Corpus Christi voters have elected Sylvia Campos, Eric Cantu and Gil Hernandez as their District 2, 3 and 5 representatives, respectively. Neither Kaylynn Paxon nor May Mendoza earned enough votes to win outright in District 4; neither did Billy Lerma nor District 1 incumbent Everett Roy.  

9:26 p.m.: Bill Chriss predicts a Cruz win based purely on Texas' history as a red state, and breaks down how education and socioeconomic demographics have led to peoples' voting habits. 

9:11 p.m.: Lexis Greene is at the Railroad Seafood Co. with Denise Villalobos' campaign, who has taken an early lead against Solomon Ortiz Jr.

9:06 p.m.: Bill Chriss talks about how the lead Villalobos has taken over Ortiz isn't all that surprising.

9:01 p.m.: Denise Villalobos tells Lexis that even her campaign comsultant is surprised by the early lead she took over Solomon Ortiz Jr.

8:36 p.m.: Guajardo talks about how much her supporters and city service means to her.

8:31 p.m.: Bill Chriss talks about election turnout and the city propositions.

8:20 p.m.: Michael Gibson talked with Kleberg County Sheriff Richard Kirkpatrick is feeling positive as he waits for results to come in.

8:15 p.m.: Bill Churchwell caught up with one of Mayor Paulette Guajardo's supporters, who tells him why he feels she's -- in his words -- been the best mayor Corpus Christi has ever seen and why she needs time to finish the job she started.

8:10 p.m.: Bill Chriss reminds LaMantia and Hinojosa supporters that the race is far from over despite Hinojosa's seemingly large lead.

8:05 p.m.: Michael Gibson talks with Texas Dist. 27 Senator Morgan LaMantia who currently trails challenger Adam Hinojosa. 

8 p.m.: We check in with Josh Maxwell from Jimmy Granberry's watch party, where the DA told him about some of the problems his office currently faces, such as higher pay from smaller neighboring counties.

7:55 p.m.: Bill Chriss and Mike Gillaspia talk about the seemingly close race between the candidates as early numbers roll in.

7:28 p.m.: Michael Hunter has garnered 35 percent of the votes, compared to Guajardo's 48 percent, but those numbers only represent 38 percent of precincts reporting.

7:25 p.m.: Mayor Paulette Guajardo's camp is excited as early numbers are looking strong. 

7:22 p.m.: Bill Chriss and Mike Gillaspia talk about the Ortiz-Villalobos race.

7:20 p.m.: Lexis Greene reports live from the Solomon Ortiz Jr. watch party. We also caught up with Denise Villalobos earlier.  

7:17 p.m.: Political analyst Bill Chriss talks about the presidential race with Mike Gillaspia. 

7:13 p.m.: Josh Maxwell caught up with Nueces County District Attorney Jimmy Granberry, who said he is confident in a victory tonight, but has a plan no matter what happens tonight.  

7:10 p.m.: Brandon Schaff talks with city councilman Michael Hunter about his chances in tonight's race, and issues he sees with the current city government.

7:05 p.m.: Supporters were making their way out to Brewer Street Southside to support their candidate, Mayor Paulette Guajardo. 

7 p.m.: We're live on 3NEWS+ with candidate interviews, results and analysis.

6:23 p.m.: 3NEWS crews is also at Nueces County District Attorney Jimmy Granberry's election watch party. 

6:20 p.m.: 3NEWS crews will be covering candidate watch parties across the city, including Mayor Paulette Guajardo's.

5:58 p.m.: The Veterans Memorial High School polling location was temporarily closed because of a machinery malfunction, but the problem has been fixed, Nueces County officials tell 3NEWS.

5:13 p.m.: Nueces County officials were busy counting the ballots from early voters in order to try and have vote totals available Tuesday night.

5:08 p.m.: Bill Churchwell caught up with mayor Paulette Guajardo and candidate Michael Hunter at Veterans Memorial High School this afternoon as last-minute voters headed to the polls.

4:10 p.m.: Caught off-guard by the number of voters, Duval County Pct. 2 ran out of paper ballots at its only polling location at the Benavides Civic Center, according to election administrator Bobby Gonzalez. 

Gonzalez told 3NEWS officials only prepared 1,000 paper ballots because that location typically only sees around 130-140 voters during general elections and 600 during primary elections.
