CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Several dogs are having to stay in outdoor kennels at the Aransas County Animal Care Service as rainy weather approaches the Coastal Bend area.

"We have 11 dogs in our outside kennels. That being said, we are in desperate need for some temporary fosters during this storm coming in," read a recent Facebook post from the department.

Director Caitlan Frazier says that if you would like to help house a dog for a week, the ACS team will provide you with a kennel, bowls and 7-day supply of food for the dog until the storm is over.

If you'd like to help, you can call 361-790-0151 to set up a meet and greet as soon as possible.

Last week, the shelter posted online that they are trying hard to not become full, but say that dumping, abuse and abandonment are back at an all-time high based on the types of animals they are receiving.

"Dogs with collars, well fed and socialized are coming in. No one is stepping up to claim them. Puppies that apparently had a mother are being found left behind or running the streets."

In the Facebook post, they say that they are in dire need of adoptions, rescue and fosters.

Since putting the call out for fosters earlier this week, Frazier says her team has gotten some help from those looking to temporarily foster animals. The shelter is still facing overcrowding with 72 animals in their care, but when we spoke with her Tuesday afternoon, she said some spots opened up inside.

The shelter will be closed for Juneteenth, but if someone wants to foster a pet, she and a team member will likely spend the holiday working to help the animals weather the storm.

❗TRANSPORTATION NEEDED❗ 📢 Doug, Abu, and Dolly have all found foster homes, but we need your help to get them there!...
