CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — City officials in Aransas Pass know first hand the dangers and devastating aftermath a hurricane or a tropical storm can bring to a small coastal town.
3NEWS caught up with Aransas Pass City Manager Gary Edwards, who told us storm preparations is something they think about not just during hurricane season but year round.
"You know, we know, all the people in this area who went through Hurricane Harvey know the severity of it and the destruction, the massive destruction that has occurred," Edwards said. "We've spent the last five, five and a half years recovering from Harvey. We've just now got over that the recovery process. It is something very serious you have to be prepared for."
The city manager also said during the beginning of hurricane season a form is sent to all city employees that tells them they will be expected to stay and work in the case of a hurricane unless they have good reason to be exempt.
