CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Brewster Street Ice House is bringing in the new year with a new celebration.
There is a balloon drop, breakfast buffet and no cover charge. The balloons are set to drop at midnight.
"We're all excited about it. I think a lot of people in Corpus Christi are excited about it. You know how they love Brewster Ice House," said Mark Yoro, Brewster Street Ice House manager.
Yoro said the balloon drop will have prizes inside. People can come starting at 8 p.m. until about 2 a.m. He explained how many people are expected for the celebration.
"About 300, 500, [I] was hoping that, you know, will come in tonight. We're looking forward to it," Yoro said.
This is also the first year the Downtown Corpus Christi location is doing an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. They previously had concerts for New Year's Eve, but Yoro said they wanted to do something new this year. Tickets for the buffet cost $10.
"Scrambled egg, pancake, waffles, especially man that bacon is going to be great, so, I'm a bacon lover," Yoro said.
There will also be a DJ for people to dance into the new year. Yoro said people need to be 18 years old or older, but kids can play on the adjacent playground since it will be open.
"There's no cover charge," Yoro said. "So, you go into any club right now, it's cover charge. Here, we're just trying to celebrate 2024."
