CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Not all wrapping paper is made equally. If you are wondering what can or cannot be recycled after all of the presents have been opened, the city's Solid Waste Department has some holiday tips for you to keep in mind.
Assistant dir. of Solid Waste Services, Rey Flores said that most common holiday items are recyclable, but when it comes to wrapping paper, a few types should not make their way into the recycle bins.
"You know, those foily papers that you have...the tissue paper, the bubble wrap- all that isn't really recyclable in our program, so we do want our citizens to throw those into either the green or the brown cart," said Flores.
If you are not sure, go ahead and give the "scrunch" test a try.
If the wrapping paper stays in a ball after you scrunch it -- then it can be recycled.
