CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The #HoltCult never disappoints.
CCISD has turned to the public for input on the name of their newest middle school, and as expected, the people of Corpus Christi have responded as only they can.
A series of suggestions poured in Wednesday morning, with some jokingly-- or not-- supporting the idea of naming it after 3NEWS Chief Meteorologist Alan Holt, who, together with his team, work around the clock to keep us informed on the latest weather updates.
Other commentors have made humorous suggestions, including a reference to Ben Stiller's Zoolander character, a campaign for something called 'Schooly McSchoolface,' and a mixed bag of commentary on budget concerns.
Honoring a law enforcement hero:
But there are some suggestions that take on the prompt with a more serious approach-- and they appear to be the most popular comments, with many using the forum as a chance to honor late Corpus Christi Police Chief Floyd Simpson.
The school mascot? The Chiefs.
Police Chief Floyd Simpson died following a motorcycle accident on Highway 361 in Port Aransas in 2015. He was beloved by the Corpus Christi community.
