CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers said they're keeping an eye out for drunk drivers -- especially on some of our busiest highways – such as State Hwy. 361 and the Harbor Bridge.
DPS is working together with the Corpus Christi Public Department and other law enforcement agencies to conduct traffic checks, and patrol both the Harbor Bridge and Hwy. 361 in a joint effort to keep drivers safe.
Last week alone, Troopers said nine drivers were pulled over for driving while intoxicated, and another two were stopped from going the wrong way on the Harbor Bridge.
"Last week, they made 713 traffic stops along the Harbor Bridge, resulting in 298 citations and nine DWI arrests,” said Texas Department of Public Safety Public Information Sgt. Harold “Rob” Mallory. “I mean, our guys are out there, they’re working hard."
Mallory said Troopers are going to continue to patrol along the current Harbor Bridge until the new Harbor Bridge opens.
