CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Editor's note: This story has been updated to show that Chris Ruiz was 19 years old.
Sheriff Oscar Rivera told 3NEWS the body of 19-year-old Chris Ruiz from Robstown was recovered at 7:58 Sunday evening after hours of searching Lake Corpus Christi.
Rivera said that his team, along with Texas Parks & Wildlife were looking for a missing 19-year-old.
Initial reports state that a young man may have fallen from a pontoon boat before he went under and did not surface.
Sheriff Rivera told 3NEWS that several young men around the age of 18-years-old were in the area with the 19-year-old.
Authorities were on the scene at around 4 p.m. the State Park and Sunrise beach access areas.
Parks & Wildlife has deployed their boats & DPS is assisting with drone air support. San Patricio Co Constable’s Office #6 divers are assisting.
