CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A teenage swimmer was rescued by lifeguards after being found face down in the lazy river at Hurricane Alley.
According to Operating Owner William Durrill, a lifeguard noticed the teen, and after pulling the swimmer out of the water, began CPR and lifesaving measures with other lifeguards on duty.
The swimmer was transported to a nearby hospital and is in recovery, according to CCFD Asst. Chief Billy Belyeu.
Belyeu told 3NEWS the group the teen was with was unaware of whether she had any medical conditions that could have contributed to the incident.
Durrill said this is the first near-drowning that has occurred at the waterpark.
"The first time our lifesaving team has been hooked to a lifesaving test," he said. "They were trained well and I was proud of them."
The swimmer was with a group in the lazy river according to Durrill.
