CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Mirador de la Flor, best known as the beloved Selena statue downtown was set to have new LED lighting in November.

As of Friday, however, just days before the Christmas holiday, those improvements have yet to be made.

The installation was set to begin on Nov. 1, with the installation expected to take two weeks.

The Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department said in a statement sent to 3News that the lighting progress is almost complete, adding, in part, "the contractor is currently working on prepping the Mirador de la Flor for new paint and led lighting. Weather permitting, the painting and new LED lighting is scheduled to be completed by mid-January."

As for the public, our beloved Selena statue is still accessible on the weekends.
