Texas State Museum of Asian Cultures to host "Oosouji" the Japanese traditional end-of-year cleaning day

Learn more about the Japanese tradition that is said to get rid of negativity and bring good vibes for the new year.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Texas State Museum of Asian Cultures is looking for volunteers for their "Oosouji" or "big cleaning" day from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday.

The museum clean up is part of an annual tradition practiced in Japan at the end of the year.

This includes cleaning by sweeping, mopping and dusting.

In Japan, it has long been said that cleaning up removes negativity and brings good things. 

Admission will be free for participants.
