CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The sizzling heat in the Coastal Bend has many people looking for ways to stay cool.
In response, TXU energy partnered with Mission 911 to help many in our community "beat the heat".
Fans were distributed on a first come, first served basis on Friday.
A representative from TXU Energy, Kim Campbell, shared how box fans are a cost-effective option for some residents.
"I'm glad we can help meet part of that need and be part of the community today," Campbell said. "We want to ensure people stay safe during the summer months, they don't turn off their A/C's, use your fans to help stay cool. It costs pennies to run fans, so we just want to make sure people stay safe."
If you need help paying your electric bill TXU Energy told 3NEWS that you can apply for their program called 'TXU Energy Aid.'
