CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi Fire Department responded to reports of smoke and fire between the first and second floor of the Villa Del Sol condominium complex on Friday.
Just three weeks ago the same complex saw a much larger fire that grew quickly and forced an evacuation.
Assistant Fire Chief Billy Belyeu said Friday afternoon's fire was much smaller compared to the first one, so crews were able to get control of it pretty quick.
He said only the first unit was needed to put out the flames, however extra units were on scene to be safe.
Although the cause is still under investigation, Belyeu told 3NEWS the two fires were not connected in any way.
"Totally disconnected," he said. "They were on two different parts of the building. It's a pretty big complex, so it's a whole separate building, whole other wing of the complex."
Fire officials are reminding the community as we head into a holiday weekend to use caution if you plan to have an open fire and pay attention to your surroundings.
