CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The 29-year-old woman found dead late Saturday night near the IH-37 northbound rest area has been identified as Jennifer Nicole Campos. San Patricio County Sheriff Oscar Rivera told 3NEWS that her autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
Rivera said the body's condition and other preliminary information suggests that the woman's body may have been there for some time.
"It did not look like there was any foul play involved, but we don't know yet," said the sheriff.
He said his office's investigators are still working the case.
The woman was reportedly found alone in her Mazda SUV over the weekend. In a Facebook post, Sheriff Rivera said she had been reported missing from the Seguin area by her sister on June 5.
Rivera said that his office is investigating the incident. The rest area was located along the highway heading northbound just three miles away from the Nueces River Bridge.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of the woman's death.
