CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi Police Department officers said an underage driver caused several car wrecks near Kostoryz Road and SPID on Monday morning.
CCPD Lt. Michael Pena said the driver suffers from a mental disability and was at home with their mother when they took her keys and drove off. They were involved in at least four separate accidents at different locations.
The call came at around 9:56 a.m. Hanzo Garcia was one of the commuters whose vehicle was hit by the driver. He posted a picture of the incident with the caption "Dawg, I just got hit by an 8 year old."
CCPD would not confirm the driver's age when we spoke with them on Monday afternoon.
Authorities did say that the underage driver was a boy, but pointed out that, contrary to reports surfacing online, the child is not eight years old.
The photo- which sows where the car was damaged- has been shared thousands of times on Facebook.
CPS was not contacted, and Pena said the child was released back into their parent's custody.
